Foam Latex (Part 2)

This is how my own foam latex piece turned out. Although there are issue with it I am very pleased for a first attempt, especially as this mold had problems when I was using it with silicone on the previous project. The tear on one side is due to a problem with the original sculpt where there is a cut in the plaster and always appeared in the cap plastic so although this would make applying difficult it is to do with the mold not the foam latex. There is also a large air bubble in the tip of the nose but this could be rectified by using a filler when it was applied.

Applying Foam Latex

1) Put pros-aide onto the back of the piece and transfer to skin

2) Dry the skin and the piece

3) Press the piece onto the skin

4) Blend edges with cabopatch (cabosil and pros-aide) in a paste, smoothing it onto the edge and into the skin, drying in between each layer.

5) Colour piece with layers and layers of colour as foam latex is opaque. Can use greseapint mixed with alcohol and skin illustrator. Go for red tones, skin tones and green and blue tones.

6) Add wound filler and liquid blood.
